The Alto Chorro expedition is an immersive journey into the mainland jungles of Bocas del Toro. Located near La Gloria, this trek is designed for those seeking raw nature, dramatic canyons, and towering waterfalls far from the typical tourist trails.

• The adventure begins with a scenic boat ride to Almirante, followed by a transfer through the lush mountains of the mainland toward Chiriquí Grande.
• Upon arrival at the trailhead, you will meet your local Ngäbe guide for a hike through secondary and primary rainforest.
• The highlight is the Alto Chorro Canyon, where massive rock walls frame a turquoise river. You’ll have the opportunity to swim through natural corridors to reach the base of a spectacular 100-foot waterfall.
• Along the trail, hikers often spot Strawberry Poison Dart Frogs, sloths, and various tropical bird species unique to the mainland ecosystem.
• The tour includes transportation from Isla Colón, a local guide, and bottled water.

Guests are advised to wear sturdy hiking shoes or trail sneakers and bring a change of dry clothes.

For lunch, guests should bring a packed meal from Chabad of Bocas, as there are no kosher options on the mainland.

Boat and land transport options are available as private excursions to ensure a pace that suits your group’s hiking ability.
